I was conversating with Solomonsydelle, a few week or so ago and she shared with me a link to this guy on Youtube who has basically gone through the ardous task of posting Yoruba movies online in bits and pieces. His name is Ijinleman. Whether or not what he has done is legal, I am not too sure but anywas I decided to check him out and the first movie, I saw from beginning till end, courtesy his video posting services, was Eta Inu.

The movie stars Fathia Balogun, Funke Akindele, Jide Kosoko, Ope Ayeola, Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande), Dupe Jaiyesinmi, Funsho Adeolu, Femi Brainard and a host of others in a cautionary tale of children who seek to rebel against the conventional moral codes of society and that of their parents.

The movie was actually quite good and the only thing I can say (based on what was presented and the usual quality that the movies have) was that I could have done without certain religious conservative concepts being rammed down my throat. Funke Akindele's character, Kuburat/KB going down on her needs in the final scene of the movie to pray the Islamic way was a bit too much for me and all the subtle messages being put forward that those who go to parties are loose and immoral or that wearing skirts and short sleeves was not befitting of a well brought up child was not to my taste.

Nothwithstanding, I was laughing so hard at the dialogue that my classmates thought something was seriously wrong with me. Infact, I even placed a call to my aunt at home and asked her to get on the internet and see for herself what the fuss was about.

See the movie. I am going to try and get myself a copy for my library because it is something that will be appropriate for a movie night where you and a couple of your friends can come together and have a good laugh over soda (not alcohol) and some suya (oven style) for those who are not home...not as good but we can all pretend).
